All over the United States there are laws in place to protect oneself and property. One such law is the Stand Your Ground law. In various states this law allows people to use reasonable force to protect themselves. This reasonable force in some states includes deadly force. While the law varies from state to state in terms of what force is allowed, it does permit someone to meet force with force rather than retreat. This is similar to the Castle Law. Castle law allows people to use reasonable force, including deadly force, to protect themselves against an intruder in their home. While Castle law is important, it is limited due to it being bound by the location you are in. Stand your ground laws are more encompassing and in at least 25 states there is no duty to retreat an attacker in any place as long as you are lawfully present. It is important as Americans that we stand our ground and protect ourselves.
