Shield Republic announces fundraiser for family of Texas police officer killed in accidental shooting

Fort Bend County Deputy Constable Caleb Rule to receive ‘Hold the Line’ apparel fundraiser

Smithfield, N.C. — May 29, 2020 — American lifestyle brand Shield Republic has stepped up to raise funds for the family of an officer killed in the line of duty this week in Fort Bend County, Texas.

The company’s charitable foundation will run a “Hold the Line” apparel fundraiser for Deputy Constable Caleb Rule, who served with  Fort Bend Precinct 4 Constable’s Office in Sugarland. Deputy Constable Rule was responding to a call in the 3900 block of Chestnut Bend in the Sienna Plantation subdivision in Missouri City early Friday morning when he and his colleagues entered a home to investigate. That’s when Rule was accidentally shot by another deputy constable. He was flown to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Deputy Constable Rule had worked as a detective with the Missouri City Police Department for 14 years before joining Precinct 4 nine months ago. He is survived by his wife and children.

Shield Republic Charities’ “Hold the Line” campaign will honor Deputy Constable Rule while raising funds for his family through the sale of honorary apparel including t-shirts, long-sleeved shirts, hoodies, ladies’ tank tops and decals. All net proceeds from the sale will be donated to the Rule family.

“This is a sad day for the family, friends, co-workers and community of a long-time public servant and first responder killed tragically in the line of duty,” said Charlie Romero, spokesperson for Shield Republic. “At Shield Republic, we wanted to show solidarity with the law enforcement community in Fort Bend County and support the Rule family by remembering this brave hero through a Hold the Line campaign.”
