Shield Republic Charities launches new ‘Hold the Line’ apparel fundraiser benefitting family of fallen officer James O’Connor
Smithfield, N.C. — March 13, 2020 — After a Philadelphia Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) officer was gunned down this morning, a patriotic apparel business stepped up to create a charitable campaign honoring the fallen officer and raising funds for his family.
The charitable foundation of American lifestyle brand Shield Republic will run a “Hold the Line” fundraiser for Philadelphia Police Department SWAT Cpl. James O’Connor starting today. The sale will include honorary tees, long-sleeved shirts, hoodies, ladies’ tank tops and decals, with 100 percent of net proceeds to be donated to the O’Connor family via the Philadelphia Police Department.
Every item available through the Hold the Line fundraiser for Cpl. O’Connor is made in the United States and can be purchased online at shieldrepublic.com.
Cpl. James O’Connor was shot in the shoulder while serving a homicide warrant at a home in Philadelphia’s Frankford neighborhood. The tactical officer, who was struck when someone inside the home opened fire, died later at the hospital.
Cpl. O’Connor, age 46, had served as a police officer for more than 23 years.
“Our hearts are heavy today with the loss of a veteran officer who dutifully served the people of his community alongside his brothers and sisters in blue,” said Charlie Romero, spokesperson for Shield Republic. “We hope that our newest Hold the Line fundraiser brings comfort to the Philadelphia Police Department and to the O’Connor family in this time of loss.”
Cpl. O’Connor is survived by his wife and two adult children, including a son who serves as a Philadelphia PD officer and a daughter who serves with the U.S. Air Force.
