Shield Republic fundraiser Sr Deputy Christopher Korzilius

Award-winning Texas deputy to be remembered with special apparel fundraiser from Shield Republic

American lifestyle brand launches fundraiser for family of Travis County senior deputy Christopher Korzilius

Smithfield, N.C. — March 19, 2020 — A senior deputy who died in a car crash yesterday in the Austin, Texas area will be honored with a commemorative apparel fundraiser from Shield Republic.

The patriotic lifestyle brand honors fallen police officers and first responders through their “Hold the Line” campaigns, with 100 percent of net proceeds from the sale of t-shirts, long-sleeved shirts, ladies tank tops and decals to be donated to the officer’s family or unit. The company’s latest Hold the Line campaign honors Christopher Korzilius, Sr. Deputy in Travis County, Texas who served with the Travis County Sheriff’s Office (TSCO) for close to four years.

The senior deputy was killed in a two-vehicle crash while on duty the morning of Wednesday, March 18. The collision occurred in the 7700 block of Farm to Market Road 2244 after an oncoming two-door sedan crossed into the officer’s lane and crashed into his unmarked vehicle, causing his SUV to flip and pin him inside. Sr. Deputy Korzilius died at the scene.

The 32-year-old officer joined TCSO in June of 2016 and was promoted to senior deputy in 2018. In January of this year, he joined the VICE unit to help fight crimes involving gambling, prostitution, and illegal drug and alcohol transactions.

A week before his death, he was recognized with an award for responding to a 2018 shots fired call.

“The entire Shield Republic team sends our heartfelt condolences to the Korzilius family and the Travis County Sheriff’s Office during this incredibly difficult time,” said Charlie Romero, spokesperson for Shield Republic. “Sr. Deputy Korzilius was a rising hero in blue and we all feel his loss deeply. We take comfort in helping his community remember him through our Hold the Line fundraiser for the Korzilius family.”
