Smithfield, N.C. — April 13, 2020 — American lifestyle brand Shield Republic announced today that at the close of their “Hold the Line” apparel fundraiser for fallen Philadelphia corporal James O’Connor, the company raised more than $8,000 for his family.
O’Connor, who had served as a police officer for more than 23 years, was posthumously given the rank of sergeant. He was 46 years old.
On April 9, Shield Republic Charities presented a check for $8,005.15 to Sgt. O’Connor’s family. Funds raised represent net proceeds from the sale of commemorative tees, long-sleeved shirts, hoodies, ladies’ tank tops and decals honoring the fallen officer.
100% of the net profits will be donated in memory of Philadelphia Police Officer James O’Connor via the Philadelphia Police Department to benefit Officer O’Connor’s family.
Officer O’Connor was killed while serving a homicide warrant. Cpl. O’Connor was a 23-year veteran of the police force who served his last 15 years on the SWAT team. He is survived by his wife and two children. His son is currently a Philadelphia 9th District police officer and his daughter serves in the United States Air Force. EOW: 3/13/20
