Smithfield, N.C. — May 12, 2020 — An apparel fundraiser honoring a Washington State Patrol trooper struck and killed in the line of duty in March raised more than $20K for the officer’s bereaved wife.

Through Shield Republic’s “Hold the Line” apparel fundraiser for Trooper Justin Schaffer, the company sold tees, long-sleeved shirts, hoodies, ladies’ tank tops and decals paying tribute to the fallen trooper, with 100 percent of net proceeds donated to his family.

Trooper Schaffer was killed Tuesday, March 24 while deploying deflater spikes to stop a suspect fleeing police in a high-speed chase on I-5. Trooper Schaffer was fatally struck during the multi-car pursuit across Thurston and Lewis Counties. The suspect later crashed into a light post and surrendered after a standoff with SWAT officers.

100% of the net profits will be donated in memory of Trooper Justin Schaffer via the Washington State Patrol to benefit Trooper Schaffer’s family.

During a high-speed pursuit of a fleeing suspect on I-5 Tuesday, the 28-year-old state trooper exited his vehicle to deploy deflater strips to stop the suspect’s vehicle. That’s when he was fatally struck during the multi-car pursuit across Thurston and Lewis Counties. The suspect continued his flight until he crashed into a light post and surrendered after a standoff with SWAT officers.
