Officer Dave “Patrick” Underwood, age 53, was shot while on duty guarding the Ronald V. Dellums Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse at 1301 Clay Street in Oakland the evening of Friday, May 29. During protests outside the building, an assassin inside a white van allegedly shot at Underwood and another FPS officer. Underwood died from the gunshot wounds; the second officer remains in critical condition.
Officer Underwood was a security officer who had been under contract with the Department of Homeland Security for nine years. He was a lifelong resident of Pinole, California.
