When the thirteen colonies rose up and rebelled against the British, it allowed for freedom and the creation of the United States of America. The American Revolution was shaped by the aspirations of ordinary people to make fulfilling lives for themselves and their families, to be secure in their possessions, safe in their homes, free to worship as they wished, and to improve their lives by being able to take hold of the opportunities that they were previously unable to go after.
By the United States having victory over the British, it was able to secure its independence. This marked the first time in more modern times that a nation was able to achieve independence in a national war of liberation. The American Revolution also allowed for a republic to be established where the government was to be dedicated to the interests of the ordinary people rather than the interests of kings and aristocrats. This was the first republic since ancient times and it influenced a lot of the Atlantic revolutions. Many of the countries that gained independence in the Atlantic followed the United States’ example.
What started as the colonists seeking independence from the British grew bigger than any of the colonists could have imagined. It is an event that influenced many people and nations. It is clear to see how a little rebellion now and then is a good thing.
